Helloooo Culture War
Last night I had the not-quite distinguished pleasure of hearing, with Theresea, Phyllis Schlafly speak here at the University of Alabama about Feminism. Let me tell you what she wants, and then I'll tell you what I think about it.

First, while Phyllis has made a carrer of attacking Feminism, that is not her current agenda. Her current agenda, being pushed at her website, www.eagleforum.org, is a common one with the self-identified Right at the moment - Judicial Restraint. She even wrote a book about it, The Supremacists, and talks a great length about it in some recent articles, such as Next We Should Starve The Courts.

Remeber that Tom Delay has also said similar things. These people are serious, they honestly intend upon weaking the judiciary, and moving the country towards a system of pure majority rule.

Also, and this is a big point, much of last night's discussion was about if men and women posses inate differences. Since when did positive, contingent reality determine normative goals? The world doesn't posses inate roads, clothes, ar ice cream, but we agree upon these things as goals, and work towards them. The Equality of the Sexes is not a Scientific Fact, it is a Moral Choice. I really wish people who were arguing for it would remember this, because people arguing against it never forget.
